How to Take INTUNIV

INTUNIV comes in 4 doses: 1 mg, 2 mg, 3 mg, and 4 mg. Your child should take INTUNIV exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Your child's doctor may start with 1 mg and adjust the dose to find the dose that's right for your child. This process may take several weeks. That means that it's important to stay with INTUNIV for the weeks to come so that your child may see the potential benefit of INTUNIV.

Your child should continue to take INTUNIV exactly as prescribed by your child's doctor—do not change your child's dose without consulting your child's doctor first.

Look below for more important information about how to give INTUNIV to your child.

important info
  • Have your child swallow an INTUNIV tablet whole with a small amount of water, milk, or other liquid. Tablets should not be crushed, chewed, or broken before swallowing. Tell the doctor if your child cannot swallow tablets whole.
  • Do not give your child INTUNIV with a high-fat meal.
  • Tell the doctor about all of the medicines that your child takes, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. INTUNIV may affect the way other medicines work, and other medicines may affect how INTUNIV works.
  • As with any prescription medicine, it is important to follow the doctor's directions when taking INTUNIV.
  • Your child's doctor will check your child's blood pressure and heart rate while he or she takes INTUNIV.
  • If your child takes too much INTUNIV, call your Poison Control Center or go to the nearest emergency room right away.

Talk with the doctor about what to do if your child does not take INTUNIV as prescribed.
